How To Measure

Measuring for your blinds is simple with the right guidance

If you’re ordering from our supply-only online range, you’ll need to measure your windows before placing your order.

Don’t worry — we’ve kept the process as straightforward as possible, and if you’re unsure, we’re always happy to help.

If you’re booking our fully fitted local service, we’ll take care of all measuring for you during your home appointment.

Please note: this measuring guide is for our supply-only service only.

BEFORE YOU START

Before measuring, decide whether your blind will sit:

Inside the recess
This means the blind fits neatly inside the window opening.

Outside the recess
This means the blind sits outside the window opening, usually to cover a wider area and block more light.

FOR RECESS FIT

If you want your blind to sit inside the window recess:

  • Measure the width in 3 places — top, middle and bottom

  • Measure the drop in 3 places — left, centre and right

  • Use the smallest measurement for both width and drop

  • Measure in centimetres or millimetres, depending on what your website requires

Do not make any deductions — we will allow for this where needed.

FOR EXACT FIT / OUTSIDE RECESS

If you want your blind to sit outside the window recess:

  • Measure the exact area you want the blind to cover

  • As a guide, add extra width on each side to help reduce light gaps

  • Add extra drop at the bottom if you want the blind to sit lower than the window recess

This option is often chosen if:

  • there is little depth inside the recess

  • you want better blackout coverage

  • you prefer the blind to make the window appear larger

TOP TIPS BEFORE ORDERING

  • Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy

  • Measure each window separately, even if they look the same

  • Double check all measurements before ordering

  • Watch out for handles, tiles or obstructions that may affect fit

  • Consider how much space is available inside the recess
